During the Potato
Famine, there were significant number of Irish who decided to move to
Mexico due to the commonality between religions and for other reasons.
When the Mexican American War started, they formed their own army to fight
for Mexico. They were called the San Patrizios. They were Irish Mexicans.
The San Patricio Festival
celebrates the Irish and Mexican cultures in a family occasion every year
on Saint Patrick's Day.
Also featuring: & Pipo Hernandez, The Silver Thistle Pipes and Drums, Roy Lozano's Ballet
Folklorico, The Irish Dance Center, Widening Gyre, Pam Keightley, and
Jim Carpetas. and the Silly Sisters Shadow Puppet Troupe.
