The Third Annual Sinclair
Day Picnic returns to Austin. Come out and join this celebration. It's
a pot luck, so bring your own food and beverages and come out and join
this celebration. There'll be live music by us and others, plus, lots
of Celtic fun in Austin's beautiful Zilker Park.
In 1398, Scottish
Prince of Orkney, Prince Henry Sinclair hired Carlo Zeno to help map Greenland.
Their ship was blown off course and they landed in Newfoundland. They
founded two colonies in Nova Scotia and explored the New World for a good
20 years. While in Westford, Massachusetts, Sir James Gunn died and a
marker of a Scottish knight with a 39 inch long sword and a shield with
the Clan Gunn insignia.
Aside from the Zeno Narrative which was the many
account of their trip, this marker proves that the Scots were one of many
in the America nearly 90 years before Columbus!As a result of the
Westford Knight, Clan Gunn society has been one of the most prominent
Scottish clans in America. And on June 9th, Sinclair Day of every year,
the Scots celebrate the Scottish voyage. And in Austin, we're celebrating
it too for the third annual Sinclair Day Picnic. Come celebrate this grand
