We had a great time at the Garden in the Heights' Celtic Harvest Festival. The weather was hot and humid, and I only broke ONE string.
Plus, we got to enjoy the music of Houston's On the Dole and Canada's Hadrian's Wall. It was a great day. On the Dole plays Celtic Rock with an accordian and mix a bunch of traditional songs with some modern covers. They play on Thursdays at Slainte' in downtown Houston, and are well worth the visit. Very funny and rousing band.
As for Hadrian's Wall, I'd heard of them before and now I got to find out out why the rumors abound. The band is incredible. Although you could call them Celtic rock too since they play with a full drum kit, the sound is very traditional. Beautiful harmonies, exquisite fiddle-playing, and fantastic vocals. The band is amazing!
As for us, we got to play two sets early in the day. The audience seemed to really enjoy themselves. We ended up selling most of our CDs and All of our t-shirts. So at long last, we will be placing another order. But thanks to all of you came out, listened and sang along. You really made the day for us. Thanks!
Also happening this week, look for The Mermaid Song on MP3.com. That's the next track to be released. This is probably my favorite track off the new album, which is why it's the first song on the album.
Oh and this weekend, we're doing a benefit show for the Austin Celtic Associations annual Celtic festival, alongside Austin Celts Poor Man's Fortune and Spot. So please come on out.
