More Dr. D. and a Dragon*Con Send Off

Once again, Donald, Where's Your Trousers? Medley was played on Dr. Demento this past week. Make sure you get requesting it or request your favorite comical song. I'd love to break into the Funny Five!

Last night, Andrew and I realized that if we're to make it to Dragon*Con, we'll have to leave Wednesday evening immediately after our Cafe Mundi gig. So come out this Wednesday and help give us a proper send-off!

A New Cartoon Surfaces

We were digging through the Bard-chives and lo and behold, we beheld a new Brobdingnagian Bards Adventures cartoon from Dragon Press Graphics featuring something that happens wayyy too often at faires.

While you enjoy the comic strip, stop by Dr Demento's Request Line to suggest that he play your favorite bard song. Thanks!

Best Way to Fix Your Computer and Fight Dragons

Winner in the Best of Austin Poll of 2002

CompuBARDS

The CompuBARDS believe that if your computer needs servicing, don't just call any nerd, call the Bards. They freely admit that what you often pay for with a technical visit is time waiting for downloads, etc. and seek to remedy these moments with, what else? A little folk music. Yes, in between the standard comp-speak and the endless waiting, the Bards perform Celtic and medieval music just for you! A renaissance in computer repair indeed!

Bards Are All the News

Well, at least we were last night at Cafe Mundi when News 8 Austin, our local 24-hours of news station, came out and video-taped a few songs. Unfortunately, almost as soon as he the cameraman arrived and finished taping, he left. So we didn't get to find out when the video would be available. But we have a few connections, so we're gonna try and get some footage.

Also, I was thrilled to have local rock phenomena, Plow Monday, come out and play a few songs. This was our first time showcasing non-faire artists, and I think it worked out pretty well. If you made it out, I'd love to hear what you think. Next week, when we play Mozart's, we'll have another local artist this time playing the Blues!

City of Austin Recognizes Bards As Band of the Week

One great thing about Austin is all the music. We have a very active music community and a city and state that strongly supports Austin music of all shapes and sizes. This can best be represented by the fact that this week, the City of Austin has decided to recongized the Brobdingnagian Bards as the Band of the Week.

"From the Depths of Mordor" Now Available

Last night, we put the finishing touches on our second complete song from "Memories of Middle Earth". It's called "From the Depths of Mordor". It's an instrumental piece we wrote earlier this year, and has earned a great response from the Nagians who've heard it live. But if you want a free MP3 before the CD is released, you will have to order a Special Edition copy of "Memories of Middle Earth".
